The number one aesthetic concern of most patients is having whiter teeth. Tooth whitening, or bleaching, is a treatment used to whiten tooth enamel and enhance the natural beauty of your smile.
Professional teeth whitening, sometimes referred to as chair-side bleaching, is your best choice when you need immediate whitening results. This procedure may require more than one office visit and may take from sixty to ninety minutes.
During the teeth bleaching, Dr. Baucum will apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect the oral soft tissues. A bleaching agent is then applied to the teeth and a special light may be used to enhance the action of the agent.
Teeth Whitening Tray
This type of tooth whitening usually requires two visits. During your first appointment, molds will be made of your teeth to fabricate custom, clear plastic trays.
During your second appointment, the trays will be fitted and adjustments will be made if necessary. Then, while at home, a professional gel solution is applied to the tray and worn everyday until the desired tooth color is achieved.
Who Could Benefit from Teeth Whitening or Bleaching?
Patients who choose to whiten their teeth professionally may have been exposed to one many of the common causes of discoloration, including:
- Red Wine
- Medications such as tetracycline
Professional tooth whitening is not a permanent solution, and we recommend a regular whitening schedule for the most effective results. Combine our whitening solutions with everyday, at-home dental habits to ensure that your smile is always bright.
